GCNA Conference Report Released

The GCNA held its inaugural conference ‘Rebuilding Trust in Corporate Australia: Business as an Agent of Sustainable Change’ on 30 April and 1 May 2019. The conference brought together 275 local and global leaders from business, civil society, academia and government to explore trust and the role that business can play in rebuilding trust in corporate Australia.
Today, the GCNA has released its Conference Summary Report and Feedback Report. In talking about the conference, GCNA Executive Director, Kylie Porter, said, “We wanted to ignite thinking about the future of responsible business practices – how businesses will consider the intersection between human rights and AI and automation; how developing a business founded on the principles of the circular economy will transform how we work with and through our own environment; and how the Sustainable Development Goals, whilst daunting, provide a blueprint for sustainable leadership.”
The GCNA aimed to deliver a conference that would demonstrate that business can become an agent of sustainable change by adopting and integrating responsible business practices. The sessions were designed to open the discussion about what trust means; how ethics can catalyse collective action on global issues like bribery and corruption, climate change and human rights; the role of public private partnerships in creating inclusive social growth; and how the alignment of purpose and profit is fundamental to produce sustainable, long-term returns for business.
The conference also ignited thinking about the future of responsible business practices – how businesses will consider the intersection between human rights and AI and automation; how developing a business founded on the principles of the circular economy will transform how we work with and through our own environment; and how the Sustainable Development Goals, whilst daunting, provide a blueprint for sustainable leadership.
