Event Details

The Global Compact Network Australia is pleased to invite you to a short webinar briefing with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) on the new global sustainable development agenda.

Later this month, there will be a special UN Summit on Sustainable Development to endorse the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which will set global development priorities to 2030 and apply to both developing and developed countries. Together with the outcomes of a recent summit on development financing, this will be the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The 2030 Agenda recognises a critical role for business.

This webinar will provide an opportunity for Australian businesses to hear from DFAT on:

  • the Government’s perspectives and expectations on the sustainable development agenda and the negotiations;
  • what the agenda will mean for Australia and Australia’s role in the region, and
  • the Government’s expectations and hopes for private sector contribution and engagement.

As the Australian Government is interested in your views ahead of the Summit, the webinar will also provide an opportunity for businesses to share their perspectives on the agenda, which DFAT can take to New York.

For more information, please see the agenda.
