B20: Women’s Empowerment Principles grow in Australia

UN Global Compact Network Australia | July 16, 2014

The Global Compact Network Australia partnered on the Women’s Empowerment Principles: Equality Means Business B20 side-event led by the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) on 16 July, at which senior business leaders including David Thodey (CEO of GCNA member Telstra) spoke of the business imperative of empowering women. ACCI and others also signed the CEO Statement of Support for the Women’s Empowerment Principles.

The Women’s Empowerment Principles – a joint initiative of the UN Global Compact and UN Women – are the only global set of principles offering practical guidance to business on how to empower women in the workplace, marketplace and community.
