Event Details

The Global Compact Network Australia invites you to the 8th Australian Dialogue on Business and Human Rights.

The UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs) state that all businesses have an independent responsibility to respect human rights, even in times of public health crisis, regardless of how governments are meeting their duty to protect human rights.

Join us, together with MC Prof. James Cockayne to explore the challenges faced by business, and the opportunities to reshape human rights in a post-pandemic era.

The keynote address and panel discussion will provide an overview of the challenges faced by businesses in demonstrating that they are implementing the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights during times where there are conflating human rights challenges. It will discuss how we can work collectively to navigate a new path that embeds respect for people and the planet.

Keynote address:
Dante Pesce, Executive Director Vincular Center at Catholic University of Valparaíso-Chile, Former Chair of the UN Working Group on Business and Human Rights
