The 2020 Australian Dialogue on Business and Human Rights – convened by the Global Compact Network Australia – will take place on 25 August 2020 in a virtual format. The theme for the 2020 Dialogue is Respecting Human Rights in Times of Crisis.
For the seventh consecutive year, Australia’s multi-sector, multi-stakeholder Dialogue will bring together leaders and experts to share knowledge, explore challenges and encourage collaboration to progress the business and human rights agenda.
The global pandemic is an unprecedented time that needs commitment from governments and businesses globally to ensure that business continues to focus on respecting human rights and do not deprioritise their human rights programmes at the very time they are needed the most.
To help Australian businesses to navigate these developments the Dialogue will explore the challenges posed by crises like COVID-19. Sessions include:
- Inclusion and Reducing Inequalities
- A Resilient Future — Climate Change and Respecting Human Rights
- Engaging Indigenous Peoples
- Better Business — Snapshots of Respecting Human Rights
- The Importance of Respecting Human Rights
- Responsible Supply Chains
- Fireside Chat — Challenging Old Methods and Moving Boundaries
You can access the agenda with confirmed speakers here.
You can access the 2020 Dialogue Summary Document here.
The 2020 Dialogue will be convened independently by the Global Compact Network Australia. A small fee will be charged to cover the costs of developing and running the event.
We hope you will join us to explore how your organisation can continue to respect human rights and tackle systemic challenges during times of crisis.
We are pleased to offer GCNA Participant members one complimentary place at the Dialogue. Please email secretariat@unglobalcompact.org.au for the link to take advantage of this offer.
