Business Consultations: Australian Government SDGs VNR Process

05 Dec
2017

9:00 am - 11:30 am

Event Details

In July 2018, the Australian Government will submit its first Voluntary National Review (VNR) on Australia’s progress in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to the UN’s High-Level Political Forum in New York.

The GCNA’s business members have indicated a desire to provide input to the Government’s VNR process, to share perspectives on their own work towards the SDGs and discuss opportunities for Government and others in supporting a scaling up of business engagement in the agenda. This consultation sessions will provide that opportunity.

In recognition of where many Australian businesses are at in relation to the SDG agenda, the consultation sessions will also involve a discussion on ‘moving beyond mapping’ to the agenda and how businesses can more strategically understand and engage with the goals.

As part of the process, the GCNA will gather case studies of business implementation of the SDGs, and prepare and circulate a draft business contribution paper for the VNR process. The paper will be finalised following consultations in Sydney and Melbourne, and be submitted to the Australian Government as a contribution from business to the process.
