Terri Janke
Terri Janke is a Wuthathi, Yadhaigana, and Meriam woman, and is a renowned international authority on Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property (ICIP). As the owner and Solicitor Director of Terri Janke and Company, she leads her team to deliver exceptional results across a diverse client base, advising on intellectual property, business law, shareholder agreements, and governance, across many sectors. Terri creates pathways for collaborations that honour Indigenous knowledge and cultural expressions.
She has authored leading ICIP Protocols and models for sectors such as the arts, museums, archives, film, and business. Notably, she co-authored the National State of the Environment Report (SoE) in 2021 and, in 2023, drafted the Dhawura Ngilan Business and Investor Initiative Guides. In 2024, Terri was also part of Australia’s delegation to the World Intellectual Property Organisation’s Conference on a Treaty related to intellectual property, genetic resources, and traditional knowledge.
