John Whitehead

Detective Inspector John Whitehead has been an operational member of the Australian Federal Police (AFP) for over 34 years and is currently employed as a Detective Acting Superintendent in the AFP Perth Office. Insp Whitehead has experience managing criminal and civil investigations involving a broad range of crime types that include complex fraud, money laundering, foreign bribery and criminal asset confiscation.

In 2022, Insp Whitehead represented the AFP as a panel member for an OECD Technical Mission providing foreign bribery investigation assistance in South Africa. In addition to his day to day role, he also undertakes training of staff within in the AFP and partner agencies, being a co-author and facilitator for the delivery of the AFP’s Economic Crime Program over the past 8 years. In September of 2025, Insp Whitehead also co-authored and facilitated the delivery of the International Foreign Bribery Taskforce (IFBT) Advanced Foreign Bribery Program presented in the United Kingdom to participants drawn from partner agencies in Australia, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Canada and New Zealand.
