Jim Giannopoulos

Jim Giannopoulos is the CEO of GHD, a global professional services company with more than 11,000 employees.

He joined GHD in 1993, as a graduate chemical engineer in Melbourne, Australia. Jim has more than 30 years’ experience in engineering and consulting, working on projects and in leadership positions in Australia, Asia and the Americas including establishing GHD’s USA business in 2004. Recent leadership positions include Regional General Manager for South Queensland, Executive General Manager – Canada and CEO – Americas. Jim was also the Executive Sponsor for GHD’s Future of Water Strategic Growth Initiative and Sustainability at GHD. He has been a Director of GHD since 2020.

Jim is passionate about sustainability, diversity, equity and inclusion as well as strategic growth, partnering and collaborating to deliver positive outcomes for clients, communities, employees and GHD’s employee-owners. Jim believes GHD’s employee ownership is a key factor in the company’s success, and considers himself and all shareholders and leaders custodians of GHD’s business, building on the contributions of others and leaving a lasting legacy for the future.

Jim has multidisciplinary project leadership and delivery experience in water, transport and complex environmental projects. He is a Chartered Professional Engineer, Fellow of Engineers Australia, Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and has completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.
