Helen Maisano

Senior Director, Group Sustainability, Optus

Helen is a sustainability leader with over 25 years experience in the corporate and NGO sectors.  She is currently the Senior Director, Group Sustainability at Optus (where she also established the CSR function), leading a dedicated team in driving positive change and building collaborative engagement with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders across a diverse range of issues including; climate change, circular economy, modern slavery and human rights, supply chain and creating shared value through social impact programs.

Helen pioneered Optus’ digital empowerment strategy by developing and launching digital inclusion, digital safety and education programs with multi-award winning programs such as Digital Thumbprint and Donate Your Data. Additionally, Helen led Optus’ Project Zero as part of its decarbonisation strategy and re-validation of the Singtel Group SBTi targets and establishing ESG reporting and governance across Optus.

Helen received the KARI Foundation ‘Champion of Change’ Award in 2020 for her efforts in building better outcomes for first nations young people through education and employability skills programs.   Helen is an Advisory Board Member of Telco Together Foundation, holds a Masters of Applied Science from RMIT University and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
