Dr Musimbi Kanyoro

Chair, United World Colleges International; Former President and CEO, Global Fund for Women

Dr. Musimbi Kanyoro is an accomplished leader with extensive experience in International Non-governmental Organisations, Global Multilateral Organisations and Ecumenical Agencies. Dr. Kanyoro is a much sought-after speaker for International Forums.

She is currently a member of the UN Global Compact Board and also serves as the Senior Advisor to ‘Together Gender Equality’, a UN Global Compact program.

Kanyoro is a former President and CEO of the Global Fund for Women. She is a published author and editor of books, articles and inspirational speeches, including a Ted Talk. She holds a PhD in Linguistics from the University of Texas in Austin and a Doctor of Ministry from San Francisco Theological Seminary. She was also a visiting Scholar of Hebrew and Old Testament Studies at Harvard Divinity School.

Kanyoro has received numerous awards and recognitions internationally. She has served an advisory role on gender issues with World Bank, UN Women, UNAIDS and various other Organisations and Initiatives. She is the chair of two International Boards: the Women’s Learning Partnerships (WLP) and the United World Colleges (UWC). Additionally,  Dr. Kanyoro is a member of the Council of London School of Economics, a Board member of Care International (CI) and a trustee of Homeward Bound (HB).
