Sandfire Resources is an international and diversified sustainable mining company which is listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX:SFR).
With a strong operational base, our business is underpinned by a demonstrated commitment to the highest standards of safety, responsibility and sustainability.
Sandfire’s early growth and success stemmed from the discovery of the high-grade DeGrussa copper-gold deposit in Western Australia, which it successfully brought into production in less than three years – setting new records for the permitting, financing, development and construction of new resource projects in Australia.
The strong cash-flows generated by the DeGrussa Operations have provided us with the platform to diversify across the globe, through the transformational acquisition of the MATSA Copper Operations in Spain, and the development of a new long-life copper project in Botswana, the Motheo Copper Mine.
The MATSA Operations located in the Huelva Province of Spain, include a polymetallic operation with three underground mines and a modern 4.7Mtpa processing facility. Together with Sandfire’s emerging operations in Botswana, they are expected to become the backbone of the Company’s business for the next decade and beyond.
In keeping with its original mission, Sandfire is also focused on exploration for new world-class deposits across its high-quality exploration portfolio spanning Australia, the Kalahari Copper Belt in Botswana, Montana (USA), and more recently the Iberian Pyrite belt in Spain and Portugal.
Importantly, Sandfire has an unwavering commitment to maintaining outstanding environmental and social performance – with the DeGrussa Solar Farm being the largest off-grid solar facility in Australia at the time of construction.
Sandfire’s values, principles and skills in copper mining and exploration have been instrumental to its success – and will continue to define its growth into the future, positioning it to capitalise on a new wave of demand for copper and other metals required to underpin the global energy transition.
