As an Australian not-for-profit international development company with sixty-seven years’ experience, AVI currently has 160 staff in Melbourne and 20 overseas offices covering 27 countries in Africa, Asia and the Pacific to build the skills and capacity of business, government and community organisations to achieve their own goals.

In addition to leveraging its in-country partnerships, networks and expertise, AVI has core expertise in shared value, SME business development; skills and capacity assessment and building; cultural appropriateness; child protection; gender equality; volunteering for development; human rights, sustainable development; and inclusion and diversity.

Based in Fiji with partners across the region, and commencing on 1 March 2019, AVI Pacific People is a new business that provides the only Pacific Islands-wide recruitment and workforce development service for senior staff.

AVI works with a number of Australian corporate partners and their staff in shared value projects, such as the establishment of a business incubator and local small businesses for the tourism market with Intrepid Travel in Myanmar.

In ensuring locally owned and led change, AVI specialises in particular in SDG 17, Partnerships to support the development of outcomes across the SDGs.

By responding to self-identified capacity development needs of partner organisations, governments and community agencies, AVI facilitates truly sustainable, long-term development solutions in line with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
