Leith Sharp

, Director & Lead Faculty, Executive Education for Sustainability Leadership, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health

A dynamic change leader with 30 years of practice, research & teaching, Leith has taught leadership for sustainability at Harvard University for over 20 years, earning numerous commendations for distinguished teaching performance. Leith founded Harvard’s Executive Education for Sustainability Leadership program in 2014. In 2017, Leith co-founded Leaders on Purpose to engage global CEOs in defining a new leadership paradigm to deliver on the UN Sustainable Development Goals, interviewing CEOs from Paypal, Siemens, Mastercard, Ikea, P&G, Sodexo, Danone, Mars, Best Buy, Phillips, BMW etc. In 2013 Leith co-created a leadership program to support Mexican academics to lead renewable energy projects in rural Mexico to benefit indigenous and local communities.  Known for founding Harvard’s Office for Sustainability in 2000, over 9 years Leith led Harvard to become a global leader in campus sustainability. In 2009 Leith launched the Sustainable Futures Academy, a sustainability focused think tank based within the Salzburg Global Seminar in Austria. In 2010 Leith was recruited by a team of college presidents to co-found the Illinois Green Economy Network (IGEN), a collaboration of 48 community colleges dedicated to accelerating green workforce training across the state of Illinois. Leith has consulted with 300+ organizations and has received numerous awards internationally, including Young Australian of the Year, NSW Environment Category and a Churchill Fellowship. Leith has an environmental engineering degree (UNSW), a master of education (Harvard) & a Master of Science in Biomimicry (ASU)
