Event Details

The seaweed industry has the potential to play a globally significant role in food security, climate change mitigation, as well as contribute to job-creation and economic growth.

In Australia, the development of our seaweed industry offers a sustainable, high-tech and high-value opportunity. It is estimated that the development of the industry could reduce Australia’s greenhouse gas emissions by 3% per year from 2025.

The 24th International Seaweed Symposium (ISS) provides businesses with an invaluable opportunity to engage with the seaweed industry globally. The symposium will focus on key areas of the industry including ongoing changes in seaweed aquaculture practices, future products and markets, and local and global environmental change.

The ISS will be held in Hobart, Tasmania between 19-24 February 2023 in a hybrid format allowing virtual delegates and presenters to also attend and interact. Find out more about the ISS here.
