Event Details

The Global Compact Network Australia (GCNA) is hosting an ‘in conversation’ breakfast to bring together businesses to hear from Cristina Tebar-Less, Head of the Responsible Business Conduct Unit at the OECD. The conversation, facilitated by Vanessa Zimmerman, Chair of the GCNA’s Human Rights Leadership Group, will discuss the OECD’s Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises (Guidelines) including the due diligence tools available to business to assess their compliance in their own operations and business relationships; evolution of the State-based grievance mechanisms under the Guidelines known as National Contact Points; and responsible supply chain projects that the OCED manages in the Asia-Pacific region.

The Guidelines cover responsible business conduct topics ranging from human rights and combatting bribery to environment and industrial relations and are increasingly a reference point for investors, civil society and business partners in assessing a company’s commitment to responsible business conduct.

This is an important opportunity for Australian business to hear from the OECD directly on why the Guidelines are important and what they mean for daily business at home and abroad. The event will also include attendees from the Australian Government.

We hope that the discussion will be interactive as possible and we will encourage participation and questions from the audience.

The event is kindly sponsored by Allens.

Registration

Please note this event is only open to business representatives invited to the Australian Dialogue on Business and Human Rights, with priority given to GCNA members.

The event is held under the Chatham House rule.
