Event Details

The Global Compact Network Australia invites you to a webinar on global trends in human rights reporting and assurance processes, exploring what they might mean for Australian business at home and abroad and providing an opportunity for Australian business to input into a global consultation process.

The webinar will focus on the Shift Project’s Reporting and Assurance Framework Initiative (RAFI).

RAFI is a multi-stakeholder, consultative process, aimed at developing two sets of guidance frameworks: one on what good human rights reporting looks like, and another on what good assurance of these reports should involve.

Caroline Rees, President, Shift, will present on RAFI’s rationale and progress in developing the frameworks. After an initial presentation, she will be joined in conversation by a GCNA member to discuss  practical challenges they have faced regarding human rights reporting and how they have addressed them. An open discussion will follow, with participants invited to share their views on the draft RAFI frameworks or ask any questions.

RAFI is being developed by Shift, a leading organisation dedicated to helping businesses implement the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. Shift is chaired by Professor John Ruggie, author of the UN Guiding Principles.

Draft documents relating to the frameworks will be distributed to participants before the webinar.

Panellists:
