WEBINAR RECORDING | Science Based Targets initiative: Spotlight on Australian Businesses

Corinne Schoch | December 3, 2020

The Science Based Target initiative (SBTi) is growing exponentially, with over 1000 companies having set or committed to setting an science-based target (SBT) globally.

SBTs provide businesses with a clearly defined pathway to future-proof growth by specifying how much and how quickly they need to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions.

In Australia, the narrative is no different. An increasing number of Australian listed companies are taking science-based actions, such as Brambles, Telstra, Transurban, and Woolworths Group.

The Global Compact Network Australia (GCNA) and WWF-Australia convened a webinar to hear from the following Australian businesses as they outlined their journey to setting a target:

  • Jarrah Bassal, Sustainability Manager, Energy & Carbon, Transurban
  • Lachlan Feggans, Director, Sustainability Asia Pacific, Brambles
  • Peter Shelley, Sustainability Manager, Energy & Carbon, Australia Post

The discussion was facilitated by Monica Richter, Senior Manager, Low Carbon Futures, WWF-Australia & Corinne Schoch, Head of Programmes, GCNA.

This webinar recording is relevant for businesses interested in setting SBTs, updating existing targets, and consultants, investors and other stakeholders.
