Hastings Technology Metals Ltd (Hastings) is a leading Australian rare earths company listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX: HAS) and headquartered in Perth, Western Australia (WA). They are progressing the development of the Yangibana Rare Earths Project (Yangibana Project), located in the Upper Gascoyne and Pilbara regions of WA. The Yangibana Project will involve the mining and processing of a monazite ore to produce a mixed rare earths carbonate (MREC) product for transport to overseas customers. Approximately 15,000 tonnes of MREC will be produced per year.
Neodymium and Praseodymium (collective referred to as ‘NdPr’) are used to make permanent magnets, which enable e-mobility such as electric vehicles and wind turbines. The Yangibana Project has some of the highest concentrations of NdPr in their basket of total rare earths oxide in the world. Their MREC product will be further processed and ultimately used in renewable energy technologies which will phase out a worldwide reliance on fossil fuels.
The Hastings team are committed to creating value for their stakeholders by becoming a world class producer of MREC for use in technologies that improve our planet. They embrace safety, integrity, sustainability, creativity and diversity and mental wellbeing. They recognise that they have an important role to play in collective worldwide efforts to address climate change, achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and transparently report their sustainability performance. They believe that they can contribute positively to the environment and society through their operations, creating a positive legacy for generations to come, which includes contributing to achieving a lower carbon future
