Bassina Farbenblum

Executive Director, Migrant Justice Institute

Bassina is founding Co-Executive Director of the Migrant Justice Institute and an Associate Professor on the UNSW Faculty of Law & Justice. Bassina previously worked as an impact litigator at the American Civil Liberties Union in New York, the Public Interest Advocacy Centre in Sydney, and the Australian Human Rights Commission, as well as a commercial litigator at WilmerHale LLP (NYC) and Minter Ellison (Sydney).

Over the past decade Bassina has led numerous national and global research teams on migrant workers’ access to remedy for recruitment abuses and labour exploitation, technology for migrant worker engagement in supply chains, and business-led redress for large-scale wage theft. She frequently advises governments, business groups, service providers, unions, UN agencies and civil society organisations globally on migrant worker exploitation and access to remedy.
