The Global Compact Network Australia (GCNA) is hosting its annual webinar on key trends in business and human rights for 2019.

This 75-minute, interactive webinar will bring together global speakers to explore these trends and examine what the developing landscape means for businesses operating in Australia and offshore, including providing insights into some of the regional developments. The discussion will also highlight the importance of human rights as a central consideration for businesses, including with regard to engagement, risk management and disclosure. Topics will include:

  • Modern slavery, the expectations of decent work and responsible recruitment
  • Human rights considerations in AI and automation
  • Role of business in respecting the rights of human rights defenders
  • International and regional developments relating to accountability and remediation

Panellists include:

  • Laura Rubbo, Director International Labour Standards – Walt Disney Company and Chair of the Corporate Responsibility Committee of the United States Council for International Business
  • Darian McBain, Global Director, Corporate Affairs and Sustainability – Thai Union
