In celebration of International Women’s Day (8 March 2017), the UN Global Compact is pleased to announce that over 40 stock exchanges will host a bell ringing ceremony to raise awareness of the pivotal role the private sector can play in advancing gender equality to achieve SDG 5.
In Australia, we are delighted to invite you to the bell ringing at the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) on Wednesday, 8 March 2017 from 8.50am to 10.30am.
Attendees will be welcomed by Peter Hiom, Deputy CEO, ASX, before the event will move into a panel discussion. The panel, moderated by Yolanda Beattie, Practice Leader, Diversity and Inclusion, Mercer will hear from four industry leaders looking at diversity in financial markets:
- Kirsten Mander, Chair, International Women’s Development Agency and the Victorian Assisted Reproductive Treatment Authority; Non-Executive Director, the Australian Centre for Health Research and Swinburne University of Technology
- Danielle Press, CEO, Myer Family Company
- Heather Ridout AO, Independent, Non-Executive Director, ASX; RBA Board Member; Chair of AustralianSuper
Globally, the events are led by Women in ETFs and organised in partnership with the UN Global Compact, UN Women, the Sustainable Stock Exchanges initiative, International Finance Cooperation and the World Federation of Exchanges.
