Janet Salem

Founder, Footprint Lab; Senior Private Sector Engagement Specialist, Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO)

Janet Salem is the co-founder of FootprintLab, which integrates sustainability data into financial data. Janet spent 17 years at the United Nations working on sustainability, circular economy and sustainable lifestyles in Vienna, Paris and Bangkok. She is currently developing a Corporate Accountability Framework for Food Systems Transformation with the UN Food Systems Coordination Hub at the FAO. She is also a PhD candidate with the University of Sydney’s School of Physics, where she is researching the integration of sustainability data into financial data systems. Janet has a Bachelor of Environmental Engineering and a Masters of Engineering Science from the University of New South Wales. She is the 2022 winner of the Ada Lovelace Medal which recognises excellence in engineering.
