The Roundtable on Integrity & Opportunity in the Business of Sport aims to advance Principle 6 of the G20 High-Level Principles on Tackling Corruption in Sport: Support sports organizations to enhance governance, transparency and accountability and ensure the integrity of major sports events, including associated procurement. The Roundtable will be a multi stakeholder forum, bringing together governments, sport organisations and businesses, to:
- raise awareness about the types of business integrity scandals that have undermined the legacy of past international sport events;
- promote trust and cooperation between sports organisations, businesses, law enforcement, and corruption prevention authorities to effectively prevent and detect corruption in sport; and
- provide practical guidance and proactive measures to ensure integrity issues do not tarnish the legacies of upcoming events hosted in Australia.
Discussions will focus on building operational resilience to bribery, corruption, bid-rigging and other improper conduct – featuring an exchange of best practices to promote business integrity related to major sport events.
