Event Details

The 2019 National Dialogue on Bribery and Corruption—convened by the Global Compact Network Australia—will take place in Melbourne on 12 November 2019.

The theme of this year’s National Dialogue is the key relationship between corporate culture and bribery prevention. The Banking Royal Commission was a watershed moment for Australian business and regulatory communities, and its conclusions about the responsibility of corporate leadership to embed a positive  corporate culture are highly relevant to anti-bribery compliance.

As with all compliance efforts, effective bribery prevention requires a corporate culture that empowers directors, officers, employees and business partners to ask the question not “Can I do it?” but “Should I do it?” and then to act on the answer with confidence.

To facilitate an understanding of how business can embed a corporate culture of bribery prevention from the boardroom down to frontline staff, the National Dialogue presents an opportunity to engage with key law enforcement, regulatory authorities and business leaders on corporate culture and its intersection with developments on the Federal Government’s agenda, including the introduction of deferred prosecution agreements and the corporate offense of failure to prevent bribery. We will hear from the AFP, Attorney General’s Department, DPP, ASIC and business leaders throughout the day.

The event will be held under Chatham House rule.
